The Dance of Remembering

This beautiful poem by my dear soul sister, Terri Hadley Ward speaks to the essence of a woman’s heart and so eloquently expresses the purpose behind the creation of this tribe.  I hope it touches you as it does me.

The Dance of Remembering

I dance the dance of remembering, I slip into the dream world of memory and search the wilderness of my soul for the fires of She. I yearn for the Circle of Life, for the wisdom of ancient grandmothers to sing the Mysteries to my heart. I am weary of this dry-husk half life, weary of the isolation of living behind masks. I am weary of playacting roles that hide my true nature. Do you hear me, Mother? I am crying out for your presence in my life. My tears water the earth as I search for my sisters. Circle round, circle round, moon blood song we sing as One.

I dance the dance of remembering, I slip into the dream world of memory to find my power and connect with my truth. I excavate from dust and bones my woman voice, so wild, so free, so full of the magic of the goddess. Circle round, circle round. Sing with me to the moon, to the earth, to the sea, to the fire that burns in our hearts, to the wind that calls all women to run free. I am calling to you, Mother. We are calling to you, Mother, my sisters and me. We are standing in your Circle, ready to give and receive. We dance the dance of remembering and slip into the dream world of memory. Help us to open our eyes, Mother. In you we see who we were born to be.
